France’s TF1 has reported a 28% year-on-year increase in sales to €1.1 billion in the first half of 2021.
This, according to parent company Bouygues in its latest results, was driven by strong momentum in TV ad spend in Q2 compared to the same period last year, as well as string sales growth in Newen Studios’ production activities.
Bouygues notes the environment for this growth was created by viewers’ demand for TV remaining strong in H1. Although average daily viewing time was 3 hours 45 minutes among individuals aged 4 and over and down year-on-year, it was 17 minutes more than at the end of June 2019.
TF1’s current operating profit in the first half of 2021 was €169 million, up €101 million year-on-year.
Meanwhile, Bouygues Telecom had 1.9 million FTTH customers at the end of June, thanks to 346,000 new additions in the first half of the year.
All told, 45% of fixed customers subscribed to an FTTH offer, as opposed to 30% a year earlier.
