Russia ended the second quarter with 34.6 million individual subscribers to broadband internet services.
This, according to research undertaken by TMT Consulting, indicated a penetration rate of over 61%.
The total number of subscribers was 0.1% less than in the same period last year, due to both seasonal factors and market saturation.
The market was worth R37.8 billion (€434.7 million) in Q2, down 0.8% on the previous quarter, and ARPU in Q2 stood at R361, down from R364 in the previous quarter.
Rostelecom was the leading provider of services (12.3 million subscribers), followed by MTS (4 million), ER Telecom (3.8 million) and VimpelCom (2.8 million), with MTS enjoying the biggest growth.
Together, the five companies accounted for 71% of broadband internet subscribers in the consumer segment.
