The number of set-top boxes for smart TVs sold in Russia in the first half of this year was more than double that in the same period in 2020.
Quoting data produced by M.Video-Eldorado, Kommersant reports that it amounted to 260,000, or 126% more than a year earlier, with growth being driven by Sberbank, which launched its SberBox STB in October 2020.
Sberbank in fact took second place in sales in H1, behind China’s Xiami but ahead of Rombica, Apple and IconBit.
Growth in the sector was also boosted by a 25% fall in process, with the average cost of a receiver being R4,300 (€49.5).
