German media company ProSiebenSat.1 is bundling the Ultra HD (UHD) content of its TV channels on the new UHD channel ProSiebenSat.1 UHD.
The channel will be distributed for DTH satellite households via Astra (19.2° East) on subscription platform HD+. Kick-off will be with the season opening match of domestic German football league Bundesliga between FC Bayern Munich and Borussia Mönchengladbach on August 13, 2021 at 19:00 CEST.
ProSiebenSat.1 UHD will broadcast on the frequency 10.993 H (SR 22,000, FEC 5/6). In addition to live sports, the schedule will include selected programmes from free-TV channels Sat.1, ProSieben, Kabel Eins, ProSieben Maxx and Kabel Eins Doku in UHD/HDR such as entertainment shows, movies, series and documentaries.
HD+ customers can receive the new channel at no extra charge. ProSiebenSat.1 UHD is looking for distribution on further platforms to expand its reach.
ProSiebenSat.1 has been showing selected programmes in UHD on event channel UHD1 by HD+ since 2018. Competitor RTL has been operating its own UHD channel, RTL UHD, since April 2018.
