Vivacom secures Tier 4 certification

July 29, 2021 09.50 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

Bulgaria’s Vivacom has been awarded full Tier 4 certification for Plana Teleport by the World Teleport Association (WTA) following its recent audit of the facility.

Tier 4 is the highest possible certification in the field of teleport services and ranks the satellite station among the most modern facilities of its type in the world. Only 19 teleports, including Plana Earth station, currently hold Tier 4 certification.

Since the previous audit, Vivacom has focused on developing services for business clients and now the ground station is broadcasting four DTH platforms with more than 400 TV channels for Eastern Europe and Africa.

Commenting on the development, Vladimir Rangelov, Vivacom senior manager broadcasting services, said: “We’re proud that Vivacom has demonstrated the highest standards in quality for satellite services, as defined by the WTA. The thorough audit conducted by WTA and the Tier 4 certification attests to the professionalism of our work and our commitment to being the best”.

Robert Bell, WTA executive director, added: “By re-certifying the Vivacom Teleport at Tier 4 WTA is accomplishing the most important goal of the Certification programme – not just to measure the factors that make for high quality of service, but to motivate improvement. We look forward to helping other teleport operators raise the quality of their facilities and procedures to better serve their customers and grow their businesses”.
