Telefónica saw its pay-TV subscriber base in Spain contract by 6.2% in the year to June 30.
As of the end of H1, the figure stood at 3,801,300, down from 4,054,300 in H2 2020.
At the same time its broadband subscriber total fell by 1.7% to 5,888,600, of which 4,726,700 (+6.2%) were FTTH.
Although Telefónica’s convergent customer base fell by 2.2% to 4,725,900 in the year to June 30, and 56,000 in Q2 alone, the telco expects the seasonal effect of football to increase revenues from new digital services such as Movistar Prosegur Alarms from the second half of Q3.
Telefónica Group had reported revenues of €20,305 million in H1, down 6.5% on the same period last year.
Its OIBDA was €16,886 million (+138.7%) and profit attributable to equity holders of the parent €8,629 million, compared to €831 million in H1 2020.
