By 2026, it is expected that more pay-TV subscribers in Europe will use a form of IP connection as the source for their pay-TV service than that of satellite or cable. IP sourced pay-TV subscribers will rise by over 4 million to an estimated 47 million paying subscribers, whereas satellite and cable are expected to fall by 7 million paying subscribers. If this trend continues, by 2030, Pay TV subscribers using an IP connection will outnumber Pay TV satellite and cable subscribers combined.
In anticipation of this shift towards IP, Zattoo introduced a low latency feature last May which targets sub 10 second video latency across the majority of our applications.
