CH Media to run Nick in Switzerland

June 30, 2021 11.28 Europe/London By Julian Clover

CH Media is to take over the operation of children’s TV channel Nick Schweiz in a multi-year agreement with ViacomCBS Networks International.

ViacomCBS will also license around 1,400 episodes of children’s, youth and comedy content for the new Swiss streaming platform oneplus. In addition, VIS, ViacomCBS’ global studio, and CH Media will co-produce several in-house productions for the German-speaking region.

Roger Elsener, Managing Director Entertainment and member of the CH Media Executive Board, is delighted with the deal: “The cooperation with ViacomCBS is another milestone for CH Media’s entertainment offering. With 7+ Family, viewers can look forward to a new TV channel for the best family entertainment. Our streaming service oneplus will receive countless attractive new contents for young people and for the young streamers we are creating a separate children’s world on oneplus.”

Gabor Harsanyi, VP & GM Central & Eastern Europe, Austria and Switzerland at ViacomCBS Networks International said ViacomCBS had found a “strong local partner”.

CH Media will take over the operation of Nick Schweiz from 1 October 2021. Nick Schweiz will continue to offer the children’s programming from 06.00 to 20.15. From 20.15, CH Media will launch a new family channel 7+ Family.

Advertising sales for Nick Schweiz and 7+ Family will be handled by Goldbach Media.

As part of the agreement, CH Media will also have access to a selection of content from Nickelodeon, Comedy Central and MTV. This includes popular programmes such as Roast Battle, Workaholics, Jersey Shore and selected seasons of children’s formats such as PAW Patrol, SpongeBob SquarePants or Top Wing. On oneplus, a Nick+ section will be created especially for children and families.

VIS and CH Media will also jointly produce a series of originals, in Switzerland first exclusively for oneplus. In Germany and Austria, the new co-productions will be shown on ViacomCBS TV channels and platforms.
