EWE upgrades IPTV service with Ocilion

June 29, 2021 08.00 Europe/London By Jörn Krieger

German energy and telecommunications company EWE is expanding its TV offering and has decided to cooperate with Ocilion.

The customised on-premises solution supplied by the Austrian IPTV service provider includes 4K set-top boxes, smart TV and smartphone/tablet apps as well as content packages and add-on features.

“With our new product ‘ZuhauseTV’ (‘At Home TV’), we are taking our IPTV offering to a new level. It complements our existing ‘Zuhause’ portfolio around electricity, gas, mobile services and internet and delivers a comprehensive entertainment package directly into the households,” said Andreas Mayer, Business Area Manager Products Energy & Telecommunication at EWE.

Ocilion’s IPTV solution enables, for example, TV recordings in the cloud, time-shifted television (replay) and a user interface in EWE’s design. In combination with a fibre-optic connection from EWE, customers receive a future-proof TV product. “ZuhauseTV” is to be launched before the end of this year.

Hans Kühberger, Managing Director of Ocilion, added: “EWE is one of the largest energy companies in Germany, already provides 700,000 customers with telecommunication services and continues investing in fibre infrastructure. Therefore, we are even more pleased to have won EWE as an innovative partner to jointly establish ‘ZuhauseTV’ with our tailor-made on-premises solution as a long-term competitive product on the market. The end-to-end IPTV solution is hosted in EWE’s infrastructure and enables the ongoing expansion of the offering with new functions and additional content, in line with customers’ needs.”
