Hungary ended this April with 3.622 million pay-TV subscribers.
This, according to the latest data published by the regulator NMHH, given that there are just over 4 million homes in the country, gave it a pay-TV penetration rate of around 90%.
Using figures supplied by the leading providers of services, it adds that the total number of cable and IPTV subscribers stood at 2,703,262, of whom 2,077,640 were digital, with DTH claiming 654,032, the pay-DTT platform MinDig TV Extra 76,397.
Digital penetration continues to rise and stood at 81.8%, up from 81.2% a year earlier.
Digital cable and IPTV accounted for 60.5% of pay-TV subscriptions, with DTH/DVB-T claiming 21.3% and analogue cable 18.2%.
Telekom was the market leader irrespectively of technology and in the fixed line sector, with shares of 32.7% and 34% respectively, while claimed top spot in the wireless broadcast sector with 32.8%.
