The freeing up of the 700 MHz frequency band for 5G services has significantly improved terrestrial TV reception in parts of Lithuania.
According to the national transmission company Telecentras, it has benefited around 200,000 households that watch the channels LNK, BTV, TV1, Info TV, 2TV, TV3, TV6, TV8, Lietuvos rytas televija, Delfi TV and Current time/Nastojasceje Vremia in half of the country.
Its CEO Remigijus Seris added that the conditions for reception are now better as TV signals are less suppressed at lower frequencies, penetration has improved and reception equipment is more efficient.
The positive effects have been most noticeable in the Samogitia region, along with Vilnius and surrounding area.
