Telefónica launches streaming service

June 21, 2021 10.50 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

Telefónica has launched a multi-device streaming music service in Spain.

Offering more than 50 million songs, ad-free and featuring exclusive content from artists, Movistar Música can be received via a mobile app and on tablets: Lite, the only one of its kind in the Spanish market, and Premium.

Lite costs €4.99 a month and allows customers to choose from more than 5,000 exclusive playlists selected by musicologists. Meanwhile, Premium offer both Lite and unlimited listening and downloading of 50 million songs. It costs €3.34 a week or €9.99 a month.

Movistar Música, offered in collaboration with Kuack Media and a leading service in Latin America.

The service is also available to all users of the Movistar Home device.

Commenting on the launch, Francisco Borja de Nicolás, director of Movistar’s non-convergent value proposition, said: “Movistar Música offers differential elements such as the possibility of weekly subscription, the offer of exclusive content, meet & greet and a specialised prescription through playlist that make it a very interesting option in the streaming music market. With the launch of this service in Spain we aspire to achieve the good results that we have already obtained in Latin America”.
