United Group to merge Slovenian and Croatian operations

June 14, 2021 08.49 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

United Group is to combine Telemach Slovenia and Telemach Croatia into a single business cluster, managed by Adrian Jezina, the current CEO of Telemach Slovenia.

Jezina has two decades of leadership experience, including 15 years in his home country of Croatia where he began his career. He joined United Group in 2017 and under him Telemach Slovenia has become the country’s leader in broadband internet access. It is one of only a few alternative operators in Europe to overtake the market’s former monopolist. Telemach Slovenia has also successfully grown its market share in mobile communications to around 25% and is the leading provider of paid video content in Slovenia.

In his new role, Jezina will divide his time evenly between the two countries.

Meanwhile, Viktor Pavlinic, the current CEO of Telemach Croatia, will step down from his role by mutual agreement. Pavlinic has been CEO of the business since 2016 and joined United Group when it acquired the company – then called Tele2 Croatia – in 2019.

In a separate development, United Media, which is part of United Group, has announced that it will launch the news portal N 1 in Slovenia on June 16. The portal will be managed by Adria News, whose director is Katja Seruga and will also be the portal’s editor-in-chief. The investment in the portal, n1info.si, will amount to €1.3 million.

N1, which is based in Luxembourg, began operating in Serbia, Croatia and Bosnia & Herzegovina in 2014. It is the exclusive partner of CNN in the Adria region.
