The Polish public broadcaster TVP has launched a Euro 2020 HbbTV app.
Produced in close cooperation with UEFA, it is being made available to terrestrial viewers of its proprietary channels TVP1 HD, TVP2 HD, TVP Sport HD and TVP 4K.
In other technological innovations, owners of TV sets with Tizen, Android TV and WebOS systems can now download the TV Sport for smart TV. The TV Sport app gives both free access to love broadcasts of Euro 2020 and a rich library of videos and retransmissions. The app also offers additional functionalities, including four different soundtracks – commentary in Polish, English, audio description and without commentary.
The mobile Android and iOS version of TVP Sport has also gained new functionalities. As in the case of smart TV, viewers can also choose from four different audio tracks.
Commenting on these advances, Marcin Klepacki, director of TVP’s distribution office, said: “We want to be present in all distribution channels, which is why we are developing services available via the internet. Thanks to this, our viewers gain free access to functionality and content not available on traditional linear TV”.
