NENT Group has sold its UK content distribution business to All3Media for an undisclosed fee.
The company has previously said it intends to concentrate on scripted content that would run on its Viaplay streaming service. Viaplay is in the process of expanding out of the Nordic region and into Central & East Europe. It also plans a launch in the Netherlands and intends to be available in at least 15 countries by 2023.
NENT Studios’ UK distribution business currently distributes more than 10,000 hours of content including high-profile titles such as Doc Martin (pictured), The Cry, Yorkshire Vet and Don’t Tell the Bride, and is developing original productions such as Close to Me.
“All3Media’s position as a global distributor and storyteller makes it an ideal home for NENT Studios’ UK distribution business,” said Gabriel Catrina, NENT Group EVP & Chief Financial Officer:
Owned by Discovery and Liberty Global, All3Media comprises more than 40 businesses across the UK, Europe, Asia Pacific and the United States.
