New FTA sports channel More Than Sports TV replaces eoTV

June 10, 2021 10.52 Europe/London By Jörn Krieger

German film and series channel European Originals Television (eoTV) will be transformed into a sports channel.

Media manager Zeljko Karajica, former Managing Director and COO of ProSiebenSat.1 TV Deutschland, has acquired a majority stake in eoTV with SEH Sports & Entertainment Holding. He is joined as a partner by Raimund Köhler, Managing Director of Motorvision Group, which acquired the channel in February 2020.

More Than Sports TV will go on air on June 19, 2021, at the occasion of the kick-off of the European League of Football – and will show the opening match between Panthers Wroczlaw and Cologne Centurions live. In the premiere season, the matches of the continental league will be broadcast that cannot be seen exclusively on ProSieben Maxx or ran.de. All matches will be shows in full length as repeats, plus other formats around the European League of Football.

Once a month, the German MMA Championship (GMC) presents itself live on More Than Sports TV with a Fight Night. Viewers can expect fights by multiple kickboxing world champion Michael Smolik or the reigning GMC champion Kerim Engizek, as well as talks, documentaries, mixed martial arts classics and the new reality show Fighthouse.

There are also various programme series for eSports fans. Insights into the scene are provided by the international organisation Unicorns of Love, which is supported by SEH Sports & Entertainment Holding as the main shareholder. Motorvision Holding complements the 24/7 service with programmes, reports and documentaries for motorsport fans from the fields of rallying and motorcycling as well as shows such as Bike World, Biker Lifestyle, Cars + Life and Road Wars.

More Than Sports TV will be available via Magenta TV, waipu.tv, Amazon Fire TV, Zattoo and Swisscom and will reach more than 15 million households in total. In the next step, distribution via cable networks is planned. The new channel is also to be available soon via its own cross-device app. Until then, the channel, including the live matches from the European League of Football, can be watched via the eoTV app, which is available for download free of charge.
