The Polish public broadcaster TVP plans to launch its latest international channel TVP World later this year.
Although it will initially be delivered over the internet, Wirualne Media> reports, quoting its director Marcin Darmas, that it may from next year also be distributed as an unencrypted HD service on Astra 19.2 degrees East.
This would allow it to target viewers in such countries as Germany, France, Spain and Austria.
TVP World may, in addition, secure carriage on the US’s Dish Network.
The channel will focus on providing news about the CEE region rather than just Poland itself.
It will initially be broadcast in English.
