Eltrona Luxembourg selects IPTV solution from Ocilion

June 7, 2021 09.16 Europe/London By Jörn Krieger

Luxembourg-based cable operator Eltrona has chosen an IPTV platform solution from Austrian service provider Ocilion.

The TV product, which the company plans to offer to its more than 100,000 customers, includes channel packages, a video-on-demand (VOD) service, interactive features such as replay and recordings, 4K set-top boxes (STB) and first and second screen apps.

The IPTV platform appears in Eltrona’s design and enables navigation in several languages. It is hosted locally on Eltrona’s servers, tailored to the requirements of the network operator. In a dedicated lab environment, updates and new features can be tested before being made available to customers.

“We are pleased to soon complete our customer offering with the Ocilion IPTV implementation. For us, this is the ideal service extension for our existing cable TV customers as well as our fast-growing number of gigabit internet customers. With Ocilion, we were able to win a powerful partner for our further corporate development,” said Paul Denzle, President and CEO of Eltrona.

Dr Nico Binsfeld, CTO of Eltrona, explained: “We chose the Ocilion on-premises solution because it allows us to offer simultaneously and only with one partner all services requested by our customers such as replay, catch-up, PVR, EPG, VOD, pay-TV, integration of media libraries and streaming services, mobile apps, IP and hybrid STB. This will enable us to best meet the new usage needs of our customers.”

Eltrona is the leading cable operator in Luxembourg. In addition to its cable TV business, the company reaches 85% of the country’s population with high-speed internet (1Gbps via DOCSIS 3.1) through its own fibre networks. Fixed-line and mobile telephony and soon IPTV complete the telecommunications offering.
