ANGA COM: Q&A with Dr Peter Charissé

June 7, 2021 12.12 Europe/London By Broadband TV News Correspondent

In the absence of a physical event in Köln, a digital ANGA COM will take place on a digital event platform from 8 – 10 June 2021. We spoke to Dr Peter Charissé, Managing Director, ANGA COM.

Broadband TV News: Do you see ANGA COM DIGITAL as a complete substitute for the physical ANGA COM trade show?

Dr Peter Charissé: A physical trade show and the real encounter will never be replaceable. That is why we do not have exhibitors and stands, but digital partners and digital showrooms. However, we believe that with the AI-supported event platform, which we decided on after an extensive market analysis, we are as close as digitally can be. We also tried to learn from the experiences of other digital events and decided on a very clear-structured and intuitive platform. That doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be fun to use the numerous networking functions.

Broadband TV News: How did the conference programme develop digitally?

Dr Peter Charissé: The demand of our more than 80 digital partners to speak in the conference programme has been so huge that it has become even more extensive and international than it has been in previous years. In total, there are over 40 panels with more than 180 international speakers.

Broadband TV News: What does ANGA COM DIGITAL offer on fibre optics, a topic which is particularly popular in the industry?

Dr Peter Charissé: Our online congress addresses all categories of network operators and network technologies, from municipal city carriers to international telcos, from HFC to FTTH. What all technologies have in common is that the expansion with fibre optics is gaining more and more momentum. Therefore, we have decided to cover a particularly wide range of fibre optic topics this year. From strategy and marketing to new technical developments. That will be completed with content, service, and legal issues. ANGA COM DIGITAL will bring you up to date in all matters of broadband and media technology.

Broadband TV News: Do you have a special recommendation for the congress participants?

Dr Peter Charissé: In addition to the regular conference programme, I am particularly looking forward to the Jump In Sessions, a new feature that allows our digital partners to invite participants to discussion sessions on a current topic at any time, e.g. on a keyword or a question that has just come up in a conference panel. Up to 25 congress participants can then take part in such a session without any pre-registration.

Broadband TV News: Do you also intend to send out a political message with the event?

Dr Peter Charissé: Absolutely. We want our industry to confidently show its flag. After a year in which our broadband networks were the reason that economic and social life could continue at all, we want to emphasise the fundamental importance and innovative power of our industry to politicians and the public: Gigabit networks and connectivity are key for new economic growth after the pandemic. If the politicians set the right course, we are ready to make our contribution.
