Telekom Srbija’s CEO Vladimir Lucic has conceded the telco plans to put an end of United Group’s business in Serbia.
Speaking in an interview with Blic, when asked about a document United Group produced as evidence of Telekom Srbija’s objectives, he said: “It is not an official, but an internal document, and that statement refers to putting an end to the cartel-monopoly behaviour created by the United Group for two decades”.
He added that this cartel-monopoly had resulted in Telekom Srbija having a market share of less than 1% of TV users in Serbia’s four largest cities in mid-2018 in what was the threshold of the third decade of the 21st century. This was rarely seen for a national fixed operator anywhere in the world. Lucic also said that the telco has initiated a lawsuit in Serbia and Switzerland against United Group “because of all the lies of our competition”.
Broadband TV News notes that United Group has seized on Lucic’s statement as proof of Telekom Srbija’s objectives against it.
