M-net opts for IPTV solution from Ocilion

May 26, 2021 08.00 Europe/London By Jörn Krieger

German fibre-optic network operator M-net has chosen a solution from Austrian IPTV service provider Ocilion to advance its IPTV service.

Ocilion’s tailor-made IPTV end-to-end solution for M-net includes 4K-capable IPTV set-top boxes, apps for smart TVs, smartphones and tablets in M-net’s design with functions such as replay and Net-PVR as well as comprehensive content packages.

As Bavaria’s leading fibre-optic network provider, M-net supplies high-speed internet, fixed-line telephony, mobile telephony and television to Munich, Augsburg and Erlangen and surroundings as well as further parts of Bavaria, the Ulm metropolitan area and the Main-Kinzig district of Hesse.

In addition to classic cable television, M-net has been offering its own IPTV consumer product, ‘TVplus’, for around five years. In the course of the partnership with Ocilion, the product will be upgraded and extended by new features.

Before the end of this year, ‘TVplus’ customers will receive a full-scale TV offering including a 4K receiver, first and second screen apps, a new user interface, a cloud-based recording function and extensive channel packages.

The on-premises solution is hosted on M-net’s network and existing infrastructure and also allows M-net to individually expand the IPTV bouquet with TV signals as needed.

For system adaptations and updates, Ocilion provides a laboratory environment in which innovations can be tested in advance before they are activated and deployed to customers.
