Turkey provides satellite update

May 25, 2021 09.42 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

Türksat 6A will be launched in 2022, according to Adil Karaismailoglu, Turkey’s minister of transport and infrastructure.

Speaking about a number of major projects the country is undertaking, he added that it is planned to put Türksat 5A into service this June.

The satellite was launched at the beginning of this year and reached its orbit on May 4, since when the test process has been under way.

Karaismailoglu also confirmed that Türksat 5B will be launched towards the end of this year. Its manufacturing has been completed and the integration process continues.

Significantly, Karaismailoglu in addition said that Turkey plans to make 100 Mbps internet access available to every household by 2023.

There will also be significant developments in 5G next year.
