Rob Webster, managing director of Sky Sports, is to step down after just two years in the role.
The Times reported Tuesday that he would be replaced by his deputy Jonathan Licht.
Webster has just led Sky’s successful renewal of the Premier League contract; like fellow broadcasters BT Sport, Amazon and the BBC, Sky will see its terms rolled over for a further three years. It will have 128 of the 200 available televised matches each year.
But the pandemic has led Webster to reconsider his position after a period when the broadcaster was left with next to no live sport at the height of the Covid outbreak.
Webster had worked at Sky for 23 years.
