The Latvian public broadcaster’s channels LTV1 and LTV7 have been made available in HD quality to leading cable operators.
They can also now be viewed in HD on the content player Replay.tv and on the portal lSM.lv.
However, for technical reasons independent of LTV, terrestrial HD versions of the two channels will not be available until 2022.
The regulator NEPLP notes that the transition to HD has been made possible by the new Programme Release Complex (PIK), which was acquired last year.
It adds that initially only some content will be made available in the HD format, with a gradual transition taking place throughout this year.
This is due to insufficient funding of LTV in previous years.
