discovery+ launches in the Baltics

May 20, 2021 10.00 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

Discovery and TV3 Group have entered into a partnership to launch discovery+ in the Baltics.

The service will be included in TV Group’s OTT platform Go3, along with a large selection of on demand content from Discovery’s brands, including Discovery Channel, TLC and Eurosport.

Go3 discovery+ subscribers in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania will be able to watch Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 on Eurosport. As part of their subscription, they will also get access to eight pop-out Olympic channels and over 50 additional live feeds especially dedicated to broadcasting the Olympics during the event, as well as comprehensive coverage of premium major sports events presented by Eurosport, such as the tennis Grand Slams – Australian Open, Roland-Garros, U.S. Open – and every cycling Grand Tour, including the Tour de France.

Commenting on the launch, Jamie Cooke, group senior VP and general manager Discovery in Central Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Russia, said: “Discovery is always looking for the right partners to grow its global footprint and business and TV3 Group is an established player in this region.

“discovery+ stands out from other streaming services by being the definitive destination for real-life entertainment, including sports. That makes our product complementary to what Go3 is offering now. Discovery has the ability to blend the best we have to offer, iconic global brands, network and knowledge with TV3’s content and local expertise. I’m excited to start this journey with TV3 Group and happy their subscribers in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania can now start enjoying our much-loved content”.

Christian Anting, CEO of TV3 Group, added: “We are thrilled to enter into this partnership for the launch of discovery+ across Baltics. Together we will bring our viewers an unparalleled content experience with access to the full range of Discovery and Eurosport world-renowned content brands. All subscribers of our market leading Go3 platform will have the chance to enjoy and explore the discovery+ content for no additional cost till 20th of July. Together we are combining the world’s best factual and live sports entertainment with a unique user experience.”

Ekaterina Mihajlovic, distribution and business development drector for Discovery NEE & Turkey, said: “I am very excited about discovery+ launch on Go3. We have started the roll out of discovery+ across the region in December last year and we continue our journey towards building strong digital presence together with our partners”.
