Three in five pay-TV homes in Hungary now receive services via digital cable or IPTV.
According to the latest data published by the regulator NMHH, the figure stood at 60.5% as of the end of March, up from 57.9% a year earlier.
DTH/pay-DTT was the second most used technology (21.2%, down from 23.2% in March 2020), with analogue cable accounting for the remaining 18.3% (18.9%).
Telekom was the leading provider of pay-TV services irrespective of technology, with a market share of 32.7%. It was followed by Digi (28.3%) and Vodafone (18.7%), with the next most popular being Direct One (5.8%).
Telekom was also the leading provider of fixed-line pay-TV services, with a market share of 33.8%, while Digi was the leading wireless (DTH, pay-DTT) provider with a share of 32.6%.
The total number of pay-TV subscriptions stood at 3,428,731 as of March, up from 3,417,824 a year earlier.
