Russia’s MTS nearly tripled its OTT pay-TV subscriber total in the year to March 31.
According to the company, it stood at 2.9 million in Q1, up from 1 million in the same quarter in 2020.
Meanwhile, its pay-TV subscriber base as a whole grew by 54% in the year to 7.1 million.
MTS Group had revenues of R123.9 billion (€1.38 billion) in Q1, or 5.5% more than a year earlier. Its adjusted OIBDA was R55.4 billion and profit R16.2 billion (-8.8%).
MTS notes that its rebranded VOD platform Kion was launched in Q2 this year.
Its target is to have 20 million users and become the one of the top three OTT services in the country.
