Vodafone ended the fourth quarter of Y20/21 with a total of 18,351,000 subscribers to its TV operations in Europe, excluding VodafoneZiggo in the Netherlands.
The total was up from 18,283,000 a year earlier but 70,000 lower than three months earlier.
The biggest reduction was seen in Germany, where the total of 13,342,000 contrasted with 13,578,000 a year earlier. All other markets saw year-on-year growth.
In Italy, it rose from 235,000 to 302,000, while in Spain it increased from 1,404,000 to 1,560,000 and in Portugal from 679,000 to 749,000. “Other Europe” markets, which include Hungary, the Czech Republic and Romania, registered a rise from 2,387,000 to 2,398,000. However, in the case of VodafoneZiggo the total fell from 3,864,000 to 3,811,000.
Vodafone notes that its TV customer base in Germany declined by 236,000 during the year due to lower retail activity during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Vodafone Group had total revenues of €43.809 billion in FY20/2, down 2.6% on the previous year.
Adjusted EBITDA was €14.386 billion (-1.2%) and the profit of €536 million contrasted with a loss of €455 million a year earlier.
