The Slovak national transmission company Towercom is considering making changes to its HbbTV app Otta and pay-DTT service Plustelka.
Speaking in a wide-ranging interview with Zive, its CEO Rudolf Urbanek said that it envisages two possible scenarios for Otta, which currently has only a few hundred paying customers.
The first would see it remain as it is and second another party provide it with content. In the latter instance, Towercom would remain the platform’s technical operator and developer.
Although Urbanek said that Towercom is negotiating with several Slovak companies, he refused to confirm or deny that one of them is the national commercial broadcaster Joj.
Towercom is also considering several options for Plustelka, which currently has 16,000 subscribers.
They include hybrid TV and investing less in pay-TV in order to focus on being an infrastructure player in the wholesale market.
