Andy Burnett is to join TV 2 in Denmark as the commercial broadcaster’s head of product and platform development.
The YouView CTO will lead plans on streaming service TV 2 Play, TV2.dk and TV 2’s apps from August. Burnett will be a part of TV 2’s ambitious Strategy 2025, ‘TV 2 PLAY for all’ with the ambition of maintaining its position as the largest provider of Danish content and public service through significant growth on TV 2 PLAY and a digital focus of TV 2’s business.
Burnett spent 14 years at ITV, where he was director of technology and operations at ITV Hub, before becoming chief technology officer of the PSB-telco platform YouView.
“I’m thrilled to be joining TV 2, which I see as the driving force of the Danish media industry,” said Burnett. “Having married a Dane, I’ve followed TV 2’s programmes and news with curiosity for more than a decade, and it is clear to me that TV 2 is undergoing an exciting evolution in these years, as viewing habits and usage patterns change.”
Burnett will report to TV 2’s digital development director Rahul Yadav.
