Slovak publicly owned RTVS and national commercial broadcaster Joj plan to launch new sports channels.
Zive reports that RTVS Sport is expected to undertake test transmissions between May 17-20 and go live in the coming weeks. It will be distributed terrestrially on the first multiplex and via DTH on Astra 3B, and made available free of charge to operators.
Meanwhile, Joj Sport is expected to launch later this year, probably in the autumn, and focus on mainly Slovak sports and athletes.
All told, it will offer viewers 6,500 hours of live broadcasts a year.
One of the channel’s biggest attractions will be the Ice Hockey World Championships from 2024-2028.
