The Lithuanian national transmission company Telecentras has posted a net profit of €12 million for the first quarter of this year.
According to the company, the figure includes ordinary (continuing) activities and one-time financial events, such as the sale of its IPTV operation Mezon.
Continued operating income in Q1 amounted to €2.2 million, or 1% more than a year earlier.
EBITDA was €707,000 and net profit from continuing operations €505,000, the latter contrasting with a loss of €84,000 in Q1 2020.
The sales profit of Mezon was €14.2 million.
Telecentras notes that in Q1 it invested €371,000 in – amongst others – reconstruction of the Vilnius TV tower. It also launched turiutv.lt, a new technical assistance service for broadcast TV viewers.
Looking at Q2, Telecentras says that the release of the 700 MHz frequency band for mobile services will affect around half of Lithuanian terrestrial TV viewers, who will have to retune their receiver during the transition period from May 1-June 1.
