HD+ to deliver Olympic coverage in HDR

May 5, 2021 12.13 Europe/London By Julian Clover

Eurosport 4K plans to broadcast coverage of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games in 4K HDR.

In Germany, sports fans will be able to follow the event on the Eurosport events channel, which will be available on the HD+ platform between July 23 and August 8. It will be the first time that viewers in Germany have been able to experience the Olympics in UHD HDR.

“Our aim is to provide the best viewing experience for viewers in Germany and we are proud to announce that on Eurosport 4K, together with our partner HD+, we will broadcast Olympic Games in Germany in UHD HDR quality for the first time. Sports fans will love the brilliance and will be able to enjoy all the emotions and impressive stories of the Olympic Games even more intensively,” says Susanne Aigner, Managing Director of Discovery Germany.

Over 200 hours of HDR content will be available.

“Content in UHD is in demand like never before, as there are already over 20 million UHD TVs in households in Germany. In addition, many consumers are planning to equip themselves with the latest technology in this year of sporting highlights. That is why we are particularly pleased to be able to offer all sports enthusiasts, together with Eurosport 4K, a visual experience that has never been seen before,” added Georges Agnes, Managing Director of HD PLUS GmbH.

The Eurosport 4K event channel will be available via satellite on UHD1 by HD+ and will show all the major live highlights on each day of competition.
