Moldova’s electronic communications market was worth MDL5,941.4 million (€275.4 million) in 2020.
This, according to the regulator ANRCETI, was 3.8% less than a year earlier.
Retransmission of audiovisual programming accounted for MDL283.3 million (-5.1%) of the total, with pay-TV services providing MDL184.7 million (+18%) of the latter. Meanwhile, pay-TV ARPU rose by 12.9% to MDL44.2.
The number of pay-TV subscribers at the end of 2020 was 360,932 (+7.6`%), with pay-TV penetration per 100 households being 41% (+3.5pp).
TV Box was the leading provider of pay-TV services in terms of subscriber numbers (122,977) at the end of 2020, followed by Moldtelecom (80,096), Orange Moldova (61,518) and Sun Communications (27,398).
However, in terms of revenues Moldtelecom found itself in top spot (MDL64,599).
