Lithuania’s Communications Regulatory Authority (RRT) has announced plans to free up the 700 MHz frequency band for 5G services.
In a statement, it says that the process will take place in the Vilnius, Klaipeda and Birzai regions in May/June.
It adds that there are currently 19 digital terrestrial TV channels operating in the band, 16 of which are the first TV network of the Lithuanian Radio and Television Centre (Telecentas) and two for local and regional broadcasters.
RRT notes that the frequencies used by the public broadcaster’s channels LRTTelevizija HD, LRT Televizija, LRT Plius HD and LRT Plius will not be changed.
