Telcos in the Romanian capital Bucharest are experiencing delays of over two years in migrating their networks to the underground fibre-optic network Netcity.
In a statement, its operator Netcity Telekom says that as a result of the delays extensions to the fibre network are being made difficult and customers run the risk of having their services interrupted.
It adds that over 500km of the Netcity network built since 2018 is now fully functioning and by law migrations to it should take no longer than four months. Netcity.
The Netcity infrastructure has been built exclusively from Netcity Telecom’s own funds, with Bucharest City Hall collecting royalties amounting to 12% of revenues.
