The digital TV and video delivery solution provider Agile Content has acquired the global WiFi solutions company Fon Technology to further strengthen its TV service offering.
Fon’s software-based solutions and team of experts serve a customer base of Tier 1 operators in the telecom industry. With over 80% of the traffic generated on its WiFi network related to video, its technology plays a significant role in how video is experienced on multiple screens.
Commenting on the transaction, which is for an undisclosed fee, Hernán Scapusio, CEO of Agile Content, said: “The agreement with Fon is designed to deliver value to our customers and their end users, as well as drive growth from a business perspective as we further consolidate our position in the European TV market and telco industry.
The collaboration between the three companies – Agile Content, Edgeware and now, Fon – advances our B2B2C service strategy. Together, we’re well-positioned to enhance the experience of multimedia consumption in the home technology space, support leading operators, and serve more than 50 million households worldwide with competitive TV services”.
Agile Content has also appointed Alex Puregger, the former CEO of Fon, as the group’s new chief monetisation officer.
He said: “I am excited to encourage the development of Agile Content’s B2B2C offering and integrate Fon within the larger Agile Content family. It gives Fon an environment to grow and collaborate with the best-of-the-best in order to help operators across the video landscape address customers’ evolving needs”.
