Broadband TV News speaks with Nikola Contosova, the marketing manager and sales coordinator at Nordija, about an article competition undertaken by the company.
What was the goal of Nordija´s article competition?
Over the past period, we have seen a massive increase in online articles, some excellent, some just with (poorly) hidden advertisements. During our recent marketing meetings, we were trying to come up with the topics that would make an article stand out from what is already out there and realised that’s not an easy task at all.
In our internal chat on Slack, we asked our colleagues if they had some ideas for articles and stories. Surprisingly, the responses came from all kinds of angles and departments, which planted the seed for this competition. To make it more fun and raise the bar, we engaged with Broadband TV News to have the articles rated by the professionals.
Is there a prize for the winner?
Of course, there is a prize for the winner! Besides the internal glory and kudos to the winners, a real competition also needs a prize; the gold winner will receive a Playstation 5.
What topics could the participants write about?
We didn’t pick specific topics but instead gave the participants a free hand in choosing the topic and engaging their creativity.
Was the outcome what you expected?
It was better than expected! We were positively surprised about the broadness of the topics of the articles, from the opinion pieces on How Covid-19 had an impact on how families are consuming TV or Why it is important to love our failures to articles written by our product team on Whether video streaming is only for people with 20/20 vision and Why should we welcome the commercial breaks.
Do you plan to repeat the competition in the future? If so, what subjects would you like to be covered?
We will definitely do this kind of article competition again. Even though the motivation and prize are essential, we have already received a few more articles, even after this competition´s deadline.
We are looking forward to working with the Broadband TV News editors soon again and receive feedback and pick the winner of our next challenge.
