Latvia’s Administrative District Court has dismissed the application of Olava Cera, the authorised representative of Renovo Media and NTV, for interim relief for the distribution of 16 Russian language channels in the country.
Commenting on the decision, Ivars Abolins, chairman of the regulator NEPLP, said “we had no doubt that the applicants’ request for interim relief would be rejected”.
NEPLP decided to exclude the channels, which include Ren TV Baltic, NTV Mir Baltic and NTV Serial, on February 9 this year because it was not possible to obtain documentary confirmation of who represents the channels in Latvia.
NEPLP says it still has no evidence of who they are.
