The number of pay-TV subscribers in Spain has exceeded 8 million for the first time.
According to data published by the regulator CNMC, it stood at 8.2 million as of the end of 2020, or 13.6% (1 million) more than a year earlier.
Furthermore, 78% of pay-TV subscribers received their service as part of a package.
CNMC notes that total revenues for TV services fell by around 10% in 2020.
In Q4, FTA services had revenues of €500.6 million and pay-TV services €531.6 million.
Meanwhile, the two main TV groups Mediaset and Atresmedia together accounted for 81% of TV ad revenues in Q4.
