Russia ended 2020 with 46.2 million subscribers to pay-TV services.
This, according to TMT Consulting, was 1.8% more than a year earlier and down on the 2.5% growth posted in 2019.
Pay-TV penetration at the end of 2020 exceeded 81.5%.
TMT Consulting notes that operators’ revenues were affected by a decrease in cash receipts in Q2, when subscribers with a zero balance were not disconnected and new customers were offered significant discounts.
In Q3, ARPU recovered to the Q1 level, while Q4 saw a seasonal increase.
The pay-TV market at the end of 2020 was worth R104.6 billion (€1.15 billion).
