The Polish public broadcaster TVP plans to launch a 4K channel to cover the delayed Euro 2020 football tournament.
Quoting TVP’s president Jacek Kurski, Wirtualne Media reports that it will be distributed, amongst other means, terrestrially.
It will also include a dedicated HbbTV service in the terrestrial signal where viewers can access statistical information and 180-degree camera shots.
Although the channel will initially operate on a temporary basis, launching ahead of the tournament, it may become permanent at a future date.
TVP holds broadcast rights for the Polish national football team to 2028 and is likely to continue showing matches in the 4K format up until that date.
