SES bundles activities in Germany under the leadership of Norbert Hölzle

March 25, 2021 10.55 Europe/London By Jörn Krieger

Luxembourg-based satellite operator SES is bundling its activities in the German-language market and placing its B2B and B2C business with the operational brands Astra Deutschland and HD+ under the leadership of long-time SES manager Norbert Hölzle.

Hölzle, who is moving from Luxembourg back to Germany, will be responsible for the entire SES business in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Hölzle has been with SES since 2008 and, together with managing directors Christoph Mühleib (Astra), Timo Schneckenburger and Georges Agnes (both HD+), he will strategically expand and further develop SES’ video division in the German-speaking market.

“We are focusing even more strongly on the needs of our customers and viewers. To this end, we are bundling our strengths and resources and will take new directions with innovative offers and cooperations, particularly through hybrid solutions in combination with other distribution technologies,” said Hölzle.

“We want to launch them on the market this year, and we are already optimally positioned for marketing: Satellite is the leading TV reception channel in Germany and reaches over 17 million TV households. Astra and HD+ are established and strong brands in a unique ecosystem of broadcasters, manufacturers and retail partners. I’m looking forward to this task and to working with my colleagues,” added Hölzle.

In his new role, Hölzle reports directly to Steve Collar, CEO of SES.

Collar said: “For over 30 years, SES’s Astra satellites have been delivering premium satellite TV services from the established TV neighbourhood at 19.2° East. Bringing together Astra and HD+ under one roof will help our customers reach the widest possible audiences and deliver the best content to viewers across Germany. I’m delighted to have Nobert lead the team and drive our next wave of innovation to create new viewer experiences.”
