Minerva and Skyworth complete Android TV integration

March 16, 2021 12.43 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

Minerva and Skyworth have announced an integration with Skyworth Android TV set-top box solution.

The new integration supports IPTV multicast for highly reliable, live, on-demand and linear 4K premium content streaming, as well as OTT applications. The solution, deployed by a major LATAM operator, is further complemented with premium OTT content offerings such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and Disney+.

Commenting on the development, Diego Carrera, Regional Sales Director for Latin America at Skyworth, said: “Minerva’s TV app offers a rich feature set with many technically complex capabilities yet we performed a smooth firmware integration with excellent performance and stability. Minerva is one of the best companies we’ve worked with in this space.

“The successful launch of this box and positive response from the field show great potential of this product’s swift adoption across a number of LATAM countries”.

Matt Cuson, VP of marketing and product at Minerva, added: “Skyworth’s strong technical expertise and well engineered platform enabled the Minerva team to quickly integrate our solution and ensure a great user experience. With pre-certification of popular OTT apps, the Skyworth box gives operators fast time to market and ability to scale quickly.

“OTT app support is critical to help operators bring the most popular global and local video services into their product offering. A critical piece for today’s most compelling TV services”.
