Discovery extends Lanet partnership

March 9, 2021 09.13 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

Discovery and Lanet Ukraine have extended their partnership by bringing the latter’s subscribers a portfolio of HD channels.

All the channels in question – Discovery Channel HD, ID HD, Discovery Science HD, Animal Planet HD, Eurosport 1 HD, Eurosport 2 HD – will be available in the provider’s basic package, on all its distribution platforms (cable, IPTV and OTT).

Commenting on the development, Ekaterina Mihajlovic, distribution and business development director for Discovery NEE & Turkey, said: “We continue our portfolio development on the Ukrainian market by extending our long-term agreement with Lanet. Now, our combined factual & sports offering is even more accessible to their viewers as part of the Basic subscription, with an enriched proposition when it comes about quality content in HD. We’d like to thank Lanet for their trust and commitment, which is a clear proof that we are a valuable partner on the local market. Our intention is to grow our footprint in Ukraine and to increase the level of engagement with our Ukrainian fans”.

Dmytro Hanzenko, deputy director of the Lanet Network, added: “We are pleased to continue our cooperation with such a reliable international partner like Discovery Inc. We see this as an important stage in the development of the Lanet Network and the expansion of high-quality content popular among our subscribers. We have now deepened our cooperation with Discovery by expanding their channel line-up available in Full HD, delivering on our promise to provide access to a wide list of TV channels, in terms of quality of content and technology standards. Now, Lanet Network users have available Discovery’s channels both in analogue and digital format. Expanding the range of channels is especially important on the eve of the most anticipated sporting event – the Summer Olympics in Tokyo”.
