Deutsche Telekom subsidiaries in the Czech Republic and Slovak saw growth in their TV subscriber bases in 2020.
It was particularly pronounced in the former, where T-Mobile ended the year with 189,000 opting for its IPTV or DTH services, 26.8% more than 12 months earlier. At the same time, its fixed broadband subscriber total grew by 15% to 368,000. In financial terms, T-Mobile Czech Republic had total revenues of CZK28,358 million (€1.08 billion) in 2020, up 1.6% on a year earlier, whole its EBITDA after lease was 1.2% lower at CZK11,365 million.
The company also notes that it made its state-of-the-art fibre network available to an additional 70,000 households in 2020, bringing the total to 210,000.
Meanwhile in Slovakia, Slovak Telekom’s TV base grew by a more modest 2.5% last year, from 635,000 to 651,000. Its fixed broadband subscriber total rose by 4.8% to 741,000 over the same period, while its fibre network increased its reach by a further 120,000 households to 778,000 at year’s end.
Highlights in 2020 included the launch of the first commercial 5G operation in Slovakia, in eight locations in Bratislava in December.
Slovak Telekom has revenues of €773.1 million in 2020, down 1.5% on a year earlier. Its EBITDA was €225.5 million, or 2.5% more than in 2019.
