Vevo launches UK pop channel on Samsung TV Plus

February 24, 2021 12.51 Europe/London By Julian Clover

Music video network Vevo is launching a new ad-supported pop music video channel on Samsung TV Plus in the UK.

The linear channel went live today (Wednesday) with further European launches planned.

“In the US, we partnered with Samsung TV Plus during the early days of our OTT expansion. Today, they are one of our top performing television experiences, with tens of millions of viewers across Vevo channels daily. We are excited to build on this success and do the same in the UK and Europe, but with more localised curation,” said Kevin McGurn, president of sales and distribution, Vevo. “Samsung TV Plus has become one of the most popular OTT streaming services worldwide. Our partnership will deliver music videos directly into living rooms throughout the UK for fans of every artist and genre.”

Vevo Pop is the first Vevo channel available on Samsung TV Plus in the UK, with additional genre-curated channels to be explored for launch later this year.

“Samsung TV Plus is committed to bringing its viewers a diverse array of quality content and we continually expand our offering with the help of our trusted partners,” said Richard Jakeman, European head of business development – smart TV, Samsung Electronics. “With their vast, premium library featuring world-renowned artists and top hits, Vevo are the music video curators, and extending our partnership with them outside of the US was the logical next step given the success of their channels in the US to date.

Vevo’s existing partners include YouTube, Amazon Fire TV, Amazon Echo, Roku, PlutoTV, Apple TV, NetRange, Virgin Media, Sky, Vewd, and Xumo.

The TV Plus app is available on all Samsung Smart TVs released since 2016.
