The new app makes it possible to watch original content from Apple TV+ and access purchases made from iTunes, such as movies and TV series.
It was announced in December that Apple would be joining the $50 dongle following a similar move onto Samsung smart TVs.
Later, other Google TV devices will be added including Google TVs from Sony and TCL and other Android TV devices.
Subscribers will be able to enjoy Apple Originals, including series like Ted Lasso, which was recently nominated for two Golden Globes, the new season of For All Mankind, The Morning Show and Servant, as well as movies like Greyhound and Palmer.
