Ultra HD drives Tricolor growth

February 12, 2021 10.00 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

Russia’s leading pay-TV operator Tricolor saw its Ultra HD subscriber total double to 250,000 last year.

At the same time, according to the company in an update, its HD subscriber base increased to 10.3 million and its overall customer base to 12.257 million.

Tricolor also saw an increase of 2.5 times in its satellite internet connections, with over 90% of new clients being individuals. The company also accounted for around half of the growth of the entire VSAT market in Russia.

Working with Konnect, it was able to expand its reach and now offers satellite internet at up to 100 Mbps in Siberia.

In 2020, it increased its satellite channels from 268 to 283, including 59 in HD and 10 in Ultra HD.

The total viewing share of its proprietary channels on satellite exceeded 12% of all viewing and 30% on the internet.
