Tough year for TF1

February 11, 2021 09.49 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

France’s TF1 Group saw its broadcasting revenue slump by 9.1% in 2020.

In its latest results, the company says that it amounted to €1,612.8 million, or €161.4 million less than in the previous year.

Ad revenue in the broadcasting segment was €1,414.9 million, down by €152.5 million, while the operating profit was €22.5 million lower at €163 million.

TF1 Group notes that TF1 maintained its status as the most watched private sector TV channel in France in 2020, with an audience share of 19.2% among individuals aged 4+. Its DTT arm – TMC, TFX, TF1 Séries Films and LCI – also remained the market leader in its segment.

TF1 Group also pursued its digital strategy in 2020, working closely with its TV channels.

MyTF1 reached an all-time high with 2 billion video views, up 10% year-on-year. Although its digital arm (e-TF1) saw year-on-year revenue growth, its operating profit was lower. Meanwhile, the group’s three thematic channels TV Breizh, Ushuaïa TV and Histoire TV benefited from their inclusion in the Salto online platform from October 2020 onwards.

TF1 Group had total consolidated revenues of €2,081.7 million, in 2020, down 10.9% on the previous year. Its net profit of €55.3 million was 64.3% lower.
